How to turn off my iPhone, if the on/off button is broken? Is the only solution to wait until the battery is low?

Of course, all iPhone or iPad owners know how to turn their devices on and off. But what if it is no longer possible to turn the phone off by regular means? For example, if the power button doesn’t work properly. This is, by the way, a very common problem for different generation iPhones, especially for iPhone 5 and 5S. Fortunately, Apple is prepared for this case and the company made it possible to turn off the phone without the physical button. In this article, we'll show you how.

How to turn off iPhone, if the shutdown button does not work

The AssistiveTouch function will help us solve this problem. To enable it, open "Settings", select "General" -> "Accessibility" and turn on the switch in the "AssistiveTouch":

An additional button will appear on the screen, which you can move around. When you click it, you will see the following (in the picture on the left):

To turn off the phone, select "Device", and then hold the "Lock Screen" button (in the picture on the right) until the shutdown menu appears:

That's all, the phone is off!

IPhone Button Repair

Using AssistiveTouch works fine as a temporary solution, but it's better to repair the button later. Fortunately, it is relatively inexpensive. So, for the iPhone 5S, the cost of replacing the power button is about $20. You can try to do it yourself, but you need to have certain skills and tools.
